With Optics as a label I am sure my guess is not right?:)

    A Flock of Boids?

    Best,

Congratulations, it’s a boy! Or maybe dark matter?

For all researches: Google Images reverse search only produces another copy of the Dirac Shores:

    Moon reflection on water?

    • on January 10, 2012 at 7:34 pm dberenstein

Indeed, it is a picture of the moon reflected on water. It was taken on Saturday evening and the water was a bit choppy. Looking at the patterns it formed it reminded me of flocks of birds chasing each other. Of course, it also reminded me of worms digging tunnels. or even more fun: a gas of strings.

      Wow, amazingly creative. ;-)

    A gas of strings?

You got to put one up for comparison.

    Best,

Is this one of those psychology test, where they show you a meaningless blob and see what you say? It that is the case I say it is a naked woman (upside down), otherwise it is a face.

      Hi Martin:

No, it’s not a Rorschach test nor a simile. It is indeed the reflection of the moon on choppy water. Because of the optical conditions of the surface of the water, it is hard to recognize it as such. The lack of context (other visual cues) is what might make it seem like such a test.

Sorry, I thought that was a guess. I mean I didn’t know that _was_ the answer. On the other hand I do see a face, well somewhat.

        Hi Martin:

Yes, you could say that it looks like Tante Sidonia:

This would probably only make sense to those that interacted with “Suske en Wiske” in their childhood.
